On this very day, the WHR Project constructed by Sinome-EC for AKCANSA Cement Plant in Turkey was completed; it is the first WHR Project in Turkey's history, Sinoma-EC’s first WHR Project in Turkey, and also Germany Heidelberg Group’s first such project for its production lines. It is known that, when the WHR system starts to work, the cement plant could save energy for about 105 million kWh per year, annual savings of standard coal to be 36,000 tons, and reduction of carbon dioxide emission to be 60,000 tons.
Akcansa Cement Company is located in the suburb of Canakali in western Turkey, about 360 km from Istanbul. As jointly-owned cement company of the Turkish Sabanci Group and Heidelberg, it has two cement production lines, capacity are 5980T / D and 6600T / D respectively. With its strength in tailored energy-saving technology, Sinoma-EC won the EP bid of the project.
On September 29th, 2011, a grand opening ceremony was held in Akcansa cement plant.
